Good Works Team                                                                           Tuesday, March 3^rd, 2009

The meeting began with devotions led by Flora Mae. In attendance were Charles Curry, Glen Langston, Delton Botkin, Flora Mae Gay and Martha Vogely.

Charles reviewed the minutes from our last meeting. Corrections were made to Lombac Indian Resv. In Pembrook. Reviewed the ministries list and added Youth Ministries in second position to the list. During breakfast the discussion was about the impact of the economy on churches and the district office.

 Discussion on the survey:

Survey Comments (statistics on the responders – breakdown by age & gender). Results of the discussion concluded we need to try to get more responses to bring a better balance of responders. The weather causing low attendance resulted in a less then expected return. Surveys will remain available, and the collection deadline was extended 2 weeks. A note in the bulletin and announcement during the service were recommended.

Survey Results (statistics were divided by gender the listed based on Interest and importance).With 15 surveys in, many of the top 10 choices are already being supported in some manner by the church. Some were rated high on  importance but low on interest.

 Four were rated high in importance but are not currently active at the church. Singing Ministries, Travel Ministries, Senior Ministries, and  Disaster Response Ministries fell into that category so a discussion about these four was started. The intent was to look at what we are already doing and explore to understand what more we can do.

The group discussed on how best to coordinate with the church Ministerial Council. The suggestion to bring this up at the Administrative Board meeting next week.

Glen updated the group on the Kings Way Ministry. The economic situation is causing significant hardships on this and many other ministries.

Leaders for the following ministries were recommended. Singing Ministries – Martha Vogely and Betty Young, Travel ministries – Sue Floyd and Charles Curry, Senior Ministries – Delton Botkin and Flora Mae Gay, Disaster Response Ministries – Glen Langston and Donna Rhodes.

Next steps included gathering more survey responses. Take the finished stats and divide into categories and shorten the list to the ones with most importance and/or interest. Once a final list is determined, leaders for each ministry will be found.
