Good Works Team

The Good Works
Team met Tuesday, February 10, 2009 for
breakfast at T-Bone Tooter's Restaurant in
Churchville to review and discuss Current and Future Outreach Ministries for our
Church.
Current Outreach Ministries include: Military Service (Soldiers in Iraq);
Prison (King's Way);
Religious Education (Weekday Religious Education,
Henry Fork & Black Colleges/African University); Overseas (World
Service Fund, Disaster Relief Kits,
Initiatives of Hope - Russia, Mozambique,
Brazil); Inspirational Fellowship (L.I.F.T.);
Community Outreach (Lawn Party, Ministerial Association Activities); Local
Family Support (Special Offerings, May's House); Prayer (Prayer Chain, Prayer
Ministry, Prayer Quilts/Afghans.)
Future Outreach Ministries considered were: F.R.A.N. (Every 5th Sunday invite
Friends/Relatives/Associates/Neighbors followed by lunch); Bus to Lancaster to
see Plays - June 27 cost $100 per person - need 55 people); Shoe Box -
(containing various items - toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.); Setting asisde one
Sunday per month for missions - have someone come and tell about a certain
mission); Educational Planning for Outreach (Church library); 20 Something
Ministry (Geared toward people ages 20-35); Mission Trip (Lombia Indian
Reservation, Columbia, NC); Disaster Response
Trip (Mississippi); Gospel Sing (once a year); "Rebuilding
Together" (Repairs the homes of the elderly; furnish supplies -
requirements: own home; below 50% poverty level;
elderly; disabled); Clothing Pantry (Share good clothing no longer worn/wanted
with less fortunate); Fire Needs (Help supply needed items for families burnt
out by a fire); Sponsor Suppers (Spaghetti/Tenderloin, etc.); Valley Mission
(Food Volunteers); Heifer Project (Already organized - donate money for another
country to buy meat); Community Farm (Grow vegetables to be given to poor);
Recreational Fellowship (Softball, etc.)
People to check with concerning possible missions already in existence: Joyce
Evers - NR Counsel of Ministries; Glen - Outside of Elkton -Children, needy,
childcare center/take special offering; Hazel Clinedinst - Stokesville Food Bank
(20 families); Mt. Zion - providing food for sick and shut ins).
