Opportunities and Activities at Parnassus UMC
Ø In Memory of Garland Simmons In life, Garland set up a scholarship fund to assist anyone going into the ministry. In death, his request was to have any memorial contributions be made to either the Parnassus Education Fund or the Cemetery Fund. Contributions to the Education Fund can be given or sent to Martha Vogely or Delton Botkin. Contributions to the Cemetery Fund can be given or mailed to Betty Young (3050 Scenic Highway, Mt. Solon, VA 22843)
Ø Ministry takes on Visitation! The Outreach Senior Ministries Committee encourages members of our congregation to become more active in visitation of older adults of the Church family. For those who are able to help with this ministry, we will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. We will go out in teams (preferably two per team), to make one or two brief visits. Our goal is to extend our love and concern in the name of the Lord. A list of people to be visited will be posted in the narthex. You may add names if you are aware of someone who would like/need to be visited. Contact: Donna Rae Botkin (337-8538)
Ø Christianity 101 meets on the second, fourth, and fifth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. to examine God’s message contained in the Holy Bible. Next class will be June 23rd , during which we will take a look at the Book of Job.
Ø Vacation Bible School will be July 25th thru 29th. For information and to volunteer to help, contact Betsy Curry (350-2535).
Ø Need Cards? Cards for all occasions are available in the narthex. They are for anyone who would like to send a note to someone on your mind. Also, if you have cards you are willing to donate, please add them to the pile.
Ø Sunday Lunch Bunch. Each Sunday a group of worshippers gather at a local restaurant for dinner and fellowship. ALL are welcome to join us. If you would like to join us see Richard Rhodes or Delton Botkin before or after worship.
